How did you hear about HSMAI?
From an Enterprise colleague who had huge success in networking with members of HSMAI.

Why did you join HSMAI?
My main reason for joining was to network with the various hotels involved in HSMAI and to educate myself on the hotel industry in Los Angeles.

Job duties:
I oversee the newly created Hotel division for Enterprise Rent a Car. My primary objective is to work with the Los Angeles hotels to find creative ways to generate new business for both the hotel and Enterprise. I oversee our hotel operations including our new Exotics brand, sales, marketing strategies and customer service. My goal is to know and work with each hotel on every level; from General Managers to Sales Teams and concierges. If you work in a hotel please reach out to me at the next meeting, I can’t wait to meet you!

Other organization I'm involved in:
Los Angeles Concierges Association, West Hollywood CVB, Beverly Hills Chamber and CVB, Santa Monica Chamber and CVB, LABTA, St. Joseph’s Center Action committee, and of course my wonderful role as VP of Membership for HSMAI

Hobbies and/or Special Interests
I love the outdoors…marathon running, days at the beach, biking and tennis are some of my favorite weekend activities. As for the nightlife I love hotel bars (you have probably seen me at yours). Such great people watching and even better if you have any type of live music!

Tell us about your immediate family:
My immediate family is all in California: parents, sister and two brothers in the Central Valley and San Diego. My LA family includes my amazing boyfriend, a handful of good friends from my college days at Loyola Marymount and all the wonderful friends I’ve made in my nine years at Enterprise.

Awards:
Exceptional Achievement Award Fiscal year 2006-2007 for Corporate Business Growth in Southern California, Regional Area Manager winner On rent growth 1st Quarter 2006, Customer Service Leader in West Los Angeles Region 7 times in career as Area Manager and 5 times in career as Branch Manager. Consistently recognized at monthly awards dinners for overall sales, marketing, corporate business and individual customer service MVP.

Other comments:
Thank you to all of you who have made me feel so welcome in my first few months as a member of HSMAI. I am very excited for my role as the VP of Membership and getting to know all of our wonderful members. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me for membership questions or if I can be of assistance with any rental car needs. Happy Holidays!

Marketing Tip

Refine Your Marketing Budget for the First Quarter
by Kevin Nunley
www.drnunley.com (888) 429-6203

After a few years, most businesses establish a set formula for determining their marketing budget, usually a fixed percentage of revenue. And now, with 2008 approaching, it's time to get yours set for the first quarter of next year.

It seems times are getting tougher for many of us. The mistake businesses make is to simply cut the marketing budget when they experience a downturn in revenue. Big no no! In an effort to protect their bottom line, they are more likely to bottom out.

Instead of cutting your marketing budget, try making a few refinements:

  1. Concentrate on past and current customers. They are more likely to purchase from you, even during difficult economic times. Mail to them more often, call them more often and let them know about special promotions more often.
  2. Instead of cutting your marketing budget, refine your marketing message. Customers will be thinking of how they can get more for less, so focus on the value rather than the low price. Keep your prices the same and use special promotions intermittently.
  3. Take a closer look at who your real prospects are. Instead of mass mailing, focus on a more targeted audience. Profile your prospects and find those who have similarities to your past customers. This technique will save you money and elicit a higher response rate.

How to Collect Multiple POP Accounts in a Universal Mozilla Thunderbird Inbox
by Heinz Tschabitscher
www.email.about.com

Some people may like their mail spliced and spread over countless Inbox and Drafts and Sent folders depending on which account each message is associated with.

This is not for you. "Whencever it cometh," you say to yourself, "I want it in my single global universal inbox!"

Mozilla Thunderbird can make those who favor the "divide and conquer" approach very happy, but it can cater to your preferences, too. You can have any and all of your POP email accounts in Mozilla Thunderbird use the Inbox, Sent and other folders under Local Folders instead of their own.

Collect Multiple POP Accounts in a Universal Mozilla Thunderbird Inbox

To use a global inbox for multiple POP email accounts in Mozilla Thunderbird:

•  Make sure Use Global Inbox (store mail in Local Folders) is checked when you add an account to Mozilla Thunderbird.

If the desired accounts are already set up in Mozilla Thunderbird — but delivering to their own inboxes instead of the global one:

  • Copy or move all messages from the individual accounts' folders to corresponding folders under Local Folders.
    • After you have set existing accounts to use the global inbox, their individual folders will no longer be displayed. (The folders will not be deleted, however.)
  • Select Tools | Accounts... from the menu.
  • For each account you want to use the global inbox:
    • Go to Server Settings.
    • Click Advanced....
    • Make sure Global Inbox (Local Folders Account) is selected under When downloading pop mail for this server, use the following folder for new mail:.
    • Click OK.
  • Click OK.
  • Restart Mozilla Thunderbird.
