How did you hear about HSMAI?
My GM used to be a Director of Sales & told me that it was a wonderful organization & I should check it out.

Why did you join HSMAI?
To network, to get familiarized with all the folks in the field.

Job duties:

I plan and organize meetings for Corporate Groups as well.

Other organizations I’m involved in:
I’m a member of NBTA and MPI.

Hobbies and/or Special Interests:
Oh boy! Gosh, I’m into the beach, I do yoga, horseback riding, bowling and like working out.

Tell us about your immediate family:
My sister is moving out from Las Vegas to be close. We are very close.

Other comments:
I’ve had Catering experience before and I’m happy to be part of Sales.

We are remodeling all of our 266 rooms. And we have also installed a huge 747 model in our lobby.

Marketing Tip

Admit It! You’re Good
by Kevin Nunley
www.drnunley.com (888) 429-6203

One of the biggest reason's people and companies don't market to the best of their ability is they can't admit they are good.

You are a foremost expert on a topic ALL your customers crave information on I tell my friend John.  Aw, naw, he says.  No matter how hard he tries, John can't seem to promote his best strength in his marketing.

John, like a lot of us, feels bragging about what he does well is a bit unseemly.  Deep down he hopes that if he does his work well, word will get around on its own.  To some extent that is true.
But if John really wants to build his brand and company name, he will have to promote his greatest strengths long and loud.

Often the problem is a bit different.  We aren't sure what we do well.  You can make a list of your strengths by writing down the tasks, jobs, or ideas you have accomplished.  Think about what strengths led you to be able to accomplish these things.  If you sold a big order to a major company, your strengths might be lower cost, solid reputation, and reliable service after the sale.

How to Use Word as Your Default Email Editor in Outlook
by Heinz Tschabitscher
www.email.about.com

You may want to use Word as your editor for email messages in Outlook because of its advanced editing capabilities, the automatic language selection (my favorite), or because you "simply" like it.
Keep in mind, though, that you should use plain text or maybe HTML formatting unless you know the recipient also uses Outlook.

Use Word as Your Default Email Editor in Outlook

To set Word as the default editor for email messages in Outlook:

  • Select Tools | Options from the menu in Outlook.
  • Click on the Mail Format tab.
  • Make sure the Use Microsoft Office Word 2003 to edit e-mail messages checkbox is selected.
    • In versions before Outlook 2003, the text reads Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages.
  • Close the dialog.
