How did you hear about HSMAI?
I attended a few meetings in Orange County, I used to be with the Anaheim Angels.

Why did you join HSMAI?
It’s important to know the hotels, because people stay in hotels and people who stay in hotels should know about the Dodgers.

Job Duties:
I am responsible for all ticket related issues. Individual Sales, Season Tickets, and Group Sales. Ticket sales make up 75% of a baseball team’s income.

Other organizations I'm involved in:
Little League, AYSO on behalf of my daughter. Any youth organization with my kids.

Hobbies and/or Special Interests:
Love to work out and try to do it five out of seven days a week; that’s because I love to eat.

I’ve been involved with professional sports for over 25 years

Tell us about your immediate family:
Three children. A 21 year old who is going to college in Melbourne, Australia. A 15 year old daughter who is involved with tennis, soccer and AYSO. She just made the Maccabi team, the Jewish Olympics, and will be playing in Vancouver, British Columbia. A six year old son who is an avid Little Leaguer.

So basically when I’m not working, I’m running around with kids.

Awards:
Last year the Los Angeles Dodgers were number one in attendance in the National League and number 2 over all in the Majors. Next year we hope to be number one over all.

Baseball season starts April 3rd with a game at Dodger Stadium.

Other Comments:
I look forward and am excited to be involved with HSMAI and hope that this year we are both winners.

Marketing Tip
Make `Em Email You
by Kevin Nunley
www.drnunley.com (888) 429-6203

I started my business out on the Internet with the emphasis on email communication with customers and prospects.

Sure, I talked with a lot of customers on the phone, especially in the early days of the Internet when a lot of people didn't feel comfortable buying until they made phone contact. But the vast majority of orders came after writing back and forth with customers via email.

Recently we hired more staff and added a toll free number prominently featured on every page of DrNunley.com. Phone calls picked up, but email STILL far outstrips the phone as the best way to get sales.

Here's why. The telephone is spoken communication. When we talk our meaning doesn't go in a straight line. We tend to talk in circles, going back over the important points again and again (don't feel like I'm picking on you, the entire world does this when they talk).

Writing is linear in its logic (as scientists say). When you write, your ideas must march along one after another without doubling back. This may not be the most comfortable way to communicate, but writing makes people organize their ideas and get to the point.

This very simple difference between talking and writing may be at the root of why so many businesses find they make their real sales from email and not from the telephone.
