Cindy Boulton is the Area Managing Director for Portfolio Hotels & Resorts in Southern California. She is responsible for asset, revenue and operational oversight and optimization for two of the largest properties in the management company’s portfolio – as well as being two of the largest hotels in the LAX area, the Radisson LAX (580 rooms and 200 employees) and the Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles (802 rooms and 400 employees).
Backstory
Cindy has been working in the hospitality industry for over two decades, and has successfully advanced along both traditional and non-traditional career pathways in the industry, holding key management positions with Starwood Hotels & Resorts at their Westin Los Angeles Airport Location, Hilton Ontario Airport Hotel, Grupo Situr Continental Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles (currently known as the Four Points Sheraton at LAX), and Omni Hotel in San Mateo, Calif. As a manager, she is committed to furthering the education and quality of life skills of the team members at her properties. She has been recognized for her commitment to development programs that focus on the whole person that will provide them with more opportunities.
At the core of her leadership style is her passion for mentoring those around her who express their desire to serve people and want to learn the business. Those who know her realize she has a clear vision to provide a fair and consistent work environment that everyone feels proud of. Her goal has always been to recognize the “Uniqueness” in people and help them develop their skill special skill set.
She takes pride in being an innovator that works with various entities to develop programs that create a convergence between Corporate America and the Community. A few of her favorite projects are the Portfolio Hotels and Resort Training Academy located at the Radisson LAX. She had a vision to establish the Academy to focus on further development of their workforce here in Los Angeles. Partnerships have been formed with the West LA Community College and Labor to develop English is a 2nd Language, Computer Skills Training, and Hospitality Training Program that will allow many of our employee’s to develop skill sets to embrace new opportunities through career laddering in the future
Her passion for creating sustainable environments lead the Radisson Los Angeles Airport Hotel Team to achieve Green Seal’s Silver Level certification under the GS-33 Lodging Standard and the Sheraton LAX Team the Bronze Level. This achievement gives the two Hotels the distinction of being the first hotel’s in the LAX corridor, and the second in the greater Los Angeles area, to achieve Green Seal certification.
As Area Managing Director she feels “It is an honor to be among the leaders in L.A.’s hospitality industry making strides in environmental stewardship. We are thrilled to be associated with Green Seal, and are very proud to have achieved the certification. “Our team understands the duty we have to protect and maintain the beautiful natural resources we’ve been blessed with, and we take our responsibility very seriously.” She is currently working on a committee to develop a “Green Community” model that leverages the best practices of the Radisson and Sheraton Hotels to enable all hotels on the Century Corridor to achieve “Green Seal Certification” or industry recognized sustainability programs. They will also concentrate on the broader business community that is represented in the Gateway to LA to develop certification or recognition programs that encompass office building, restaurants, and parking structures.
Cindy has been an active member of the LAX Century Corridor community since 1992, and currently sits on the Executive Boards at several community-business partnership organizations, including: Gateway to L.A. (representing the largest concentration of hotel rooms in the city of Los Angeles). Additionally, Cindy has actively engaged in leadership work with L.A. Inc. (the business association for the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau), Orange County Visitor’s Bureau, Tourism Trade District, Greater Ontario Hotel Motel Association, LAX Focus Group and Transportation Task Force LAX Airport.
She attributes her success to the support of her husband and daughter and the people she has been fortunate to work with over the years. Her team will continue on this journey with her as they all work together to try and make a difference in peoples lives.
